Sony r1 plus features and Cons

Sony has now announced a couple of phones in the mid segment: Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus, which are expected to be available from November 10 . Both handsets were released exclusively into the Indian market, but software does not appear to be managed on Sony’s usual servers, as we’ve never been able to obtain the firmware files like we can for all other Xperia devices.

Sony has let users know that both the Xperia R1 and R1 Plus are now seeing Android Oreo roll. We don’t have any other information to go on, apart from the notices on social media, so if you do have one of these devices, it would be great if you could share some screenshots below – including the latest build number and Android security patch. Either way, it would be good to hear of your overall impressions of the device so far.  Hardware-wise both the Xperia R1 and the Xperia R1 Plus share a lot in common. Both the phones come with a 5.2-inch HD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, Android Nougat software that will be upgradable to Oreo, a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, dual-SIM 4G LTE support, USB Type-C for charging and data syncing, and a 2,620mAh battery.
While the Xperia R1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the Xperia R1 Plus comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Both the phones support expandable storage of up to 128GB via micro-SD card.
The Xperia R1 and the Xperia R1 Plus are notably the cheapest Sony phones in the market right now. In fact well before the Xperia R1 and the Xperia R1 Plus happened it seemed Sony had stopped churning out mainstream handsets. A lot of this, of course, has to do with the fact that more people in India seem to be interested in the under Rs 15,000 price segment. The same reason why more and more companies are tapping this price segment, now more than ever. There's Xiaomi, there're HMD's Nokia, there's Lenovo's Motorola, there's Samsung, there's LG, and a slew of other companies, all trying to offer value for money phones at rock-bottom prices.
